Get to know Michael
Michael started his career over 30 years ago with Baxter Hospital Supply (now part of Cardinal Health) and brings significant knowledge, relationships, and expertise to create value in the healthcare market. For the last 20 years, Michael has excelled at working alongside brilliant founders to provide strategies, processes and capital in early stage VC and PE-backed companies.
Michael served as CEO of Medix Infusion from April 2020 until his retirement in January 2022, working alongside Founder Gus De Avillez, to build Medix into the national leader of technology-enabled, infusion providers focused on underserved patients. Michael co-invested alongside Noro-Moseley Partners in April 2020, as big believers in Gus’ vision for Medix to be the premier infusion therapy platform in the U.S.
Before joining Medix Infusion, Michael served as CEO and Director of PierianDx, Inc., a leading SaaS platform asset in the red-hot, genomics-sequencing market. Michael co-invested in PierianDx during a successful $27M B-Round which has allowed the company to pursue the incredible vision of Founder, Dr. Rakesh Nagarajan. During Michael’s tenure, PierianDx experienced significant growth, signed numerous strategic partnerships, and muscle-built an incredible executive team. Now in over 20 countries, PierianDx is well-poised to take advantage of the next phase of international expansion in this exciting space.
Prior to PierianDx, Michael was the Co-Founder and President of RemitDATA, the acknowledged leader in comparative analytics in healthcare provider operations. Alongside Co-Founder, Mr. Bently Goodwin, Michael helped RemitDATA experience dramatic growth through two successful rounds of capital led by Noro-Moseley Partners. Michael was a co-investor in RemitDATA as well, and, over 14 years, led the companies dramatic growth through numerous strategic partnerships with top HCIT companies (Allscripts, GE, NextGen, Greenway, Availity, etc.) which ultimately led to a successful exit to a Francisco Partners asset in 2015.
In addition to his full-time roles above, Michael consults with founders and investors to create strategies for rapid growth. Recent successful engagements include a Bain Capital-backed asset; an Allscripts/LabCorp-backed asset; a rural ACO start-up; and a multi-billion publicly traded company.
Michael graduated from ACU in 1988 and resides in Dallas with his family and is active in numerous faith-based, non-profit organizations.
